Bill Clark Homes Wins Duke Energy Progress Award
Buying a new, award-winning Bill Clark Home will SAVE homeowners money. How, you ask?
With just a flip of the switch…
Bill Clark Homes of Wilmington has been awarded the prestigious “Best Builder” Duke Energy Award for the Coastal Region. By partnering with Duke Energy Progress, Bill Clark Homes has committed to following a strict code of energy-efficient homebuilding standards and practices. These standards are paying off in a BIG WAY when homeowners receive their monthly electricity bills.
Homeowners that build a program-eligible home save, on average, 5,000kWh each year. Over a 30-year period, this savings equals nearly $16,000 subtracted from utility bills. And, when added up across the board, Bill Clark Homes’ homeowners are pocketing $1.1 million in electrical savings.
Switch flipped.
Each Bill Clark home is independently tested and scored on the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index, which is a scale for how home energy is measured and communicated. The lower the HERS score, the lower the expected energy usage.
A home with a HERS Index score of 70 is 30% more energy efficient than the RESNET Reference Home which is rated at 100. A standard new home built in North Carolina and South Carolina receives a score of 85. Based on energy performance on average, Bill Clark Homes receives a score of 56 on each new home.
“We’re committed to building energy-efficient homes,” said Heath Clark, General Manager of Bill Clark Homes of Wilmington. “With the standards and practices our company has implemented over the years, we are able to truly demonstrate the efficiency of each home to our homeowners.”
Why does Bill Clark Homes receive such an impressive rating? It’s all about the energy-efficient materials used. Materials such as radiant barrier roofing, top-rated insulation, Energy Star rated kitchen appliances, Low-E high-performance vinyl windows, weather-resistant house wrap, low consumption faucets and toilets, high-efficiency HVAC systems and MUCH more.
