Top Trends for New Homes in 2021
As we enter a new year, it’s important to know what’s trending in interior design and the new-construction home industry. Bill Clark Homes has found a way to combine timeless, classic styles with updated trends that homeowners are looking for in a new house. Check out some of the components our Design Studio is excited to help buyers incorporate into their new homes in 2021.
Comfortable and functional features
2020 was the year of spending time at home, and that’s not a trend we see going away anytime soon. With more family members at home for more hours of the day, it’s imperative that living spaces are designed with functionality and comfort in the forefront. But these two concepts mean something different to every homeowner and their family, so the ability to customize your house to fit your needs is an opportunity we encourage you to take advantage of.
If you’ve taken up cooking at home as a new hobby, consider focusing more energy and resources on your kitchen. Multiple family members working or learning from home? A single home office may not do the trick—finding a floor plan with flexible options, so everyone has their own space, will make for a harmonious home. If self-care has become a priority for you, work with our design team to curate a spa-like master bathroom, fitted with a soaking tub to relax in.
Kitchens with color
Gone are the days of kitchens consisting of only white and shades of grey. Interior design trends over the past few years have shown that kitchens can still feel light and bright with pops of color, and we’re seeing more and more homeowners embrace that in the coming year. There’s nothing wrong with white cabinets, but why not warm up the space a bit with a coastal blue island or funky, patterned backsplash? Selecting two different colors for your upper and lower kitchen cabinets is another fun way to experiment with color without going overboard.
Prepare for your design meeting, which helps our design team find the perfect palette, materials and finishes for each room of your home. Find your ideal kitchen color scheme on Pinterest, Instagram, television or a home design magazine and bring it in for us to recreate or draw inspiration from.
Natural look brought indoors
Outdoor living spaces were all the rage in 2020, and that will hopefully continue into the future. But another trend we see gaining steam is the idea of bringing the outdoor aesthetic inside. Living in beautiful North Carolina means you’re surrounded by natural beauty, and there’s no reason not to experience that inside of your home as well. Achieve this look with lighter-toned wood furniture, natural paint colors in shades of sage, warm beiges or terra cotta, large windows to offer plenty of natural light and an abundance of indoor house plants—just make sure they’re pet- and kid-friendly, if necessary. This style of interior design is a great way to achieve comfort and calm in your very own home.
