Winter Home Maintenance Checklist for North Carolina
Eastern North Carolina is known for its favorable weather. Residents here experience mild climates in all four seasons, one characteristic that makes coastal Carolina so desirable. We get beautiful leaf-falling autumns, crisp, cozy winters, flowering springs, and warm summers. The weather in North Carolina is significantly calmer than in other states.
Though it is unlikely that you'll experience any freezing conditions in coastal NC, this year, our winter temperature expects to drop lower than usual.
According to weather predictions, southeastern North Carolina will experience extreme cold this year with wind chills, possibly in the teens or single digits. Our expert Home Warranty Department developed a Winter Home Maintenance Checklist to ensure our homeowners prepare accordingly.
We encourage our homeowners and all Eastern North Carolina residents to follow the list below to minimize any damage your home can endure due to freezing weather. Please prepare now to avoid any harm.
Winter Home Maintenance Checklist:
- Winterize your irrigation system: Turn off the irrigation and drain the backflow.
- Disconnect any water hoses.
- Insulate the hose bibs/water faucets.
- Insulate any exposed pipes on the exterior of your home.
- Keep the heat in your home set to a minimum of 68 degrees.
- Open cabinet doors under the sinks located along any exterior walls - this allows warm air inside cabinets.
- Winterize any other items that could get damaged by freezing weather.
- You may want or need to leave a faucet dripping.
We want to make sure everyone's beautiful new homes remain immaculate. Remember, Bill Clark Home's warranty does not cover weather events that cause damage. Please refer to your Home Manual and Warranty Agreement to see what is covered and not covered by our Warranty Department.
