NCHFA (nchfa.com) will be increasing its down-payment assistance program to $15,000 effective April 1, 2023. While we are short on the details, they promised an announcement sometime next week - Excellent news for home buyers!
Mortgage rates fell sharply on Monday, March 13, as the stunning collapse of Silicon Valley Bank triggered fears of a broader banking meltdown. According to Mortgage News Daily, the average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage dropped to 6.57%, down from 6.76% on Monday and a high of 7.05% last Wednesday.
The current market is an incredible opportunity for home buyers.
Here is the truth: right now, we have less available and active inventory than ever. Suppose a home buyer is trying to wait and time the bottom of this market (and lower rates). In that case, they are highly likely to find themselves in a still-low inventory, similar interest rate, and highly competitive market instead. (the market after the bottom). We do not want to let our home buyers miss what’s really happening.
