How to Decorate Your Porch for Fall
The weather is finally cooling down, the leaves are beginning to change, and pumpkin spice everything is back on the shelves. The front porch is a classic space to get into your fall feels with autumn decor.
1. Set up Seasonal Seating
Add a bench or outdoor seating that doubles as a fall vignette to create a cozy sitting area for the season—layer with pillows and throws made of weather-resistant fabrics. Consider classic fall colors like red, yellow, and orange, but also mix in neutral shades, burnt tones, black, and gray. Go ahead and add lanterns, string lights, and planters for the full ambiance. This will bring it all together and make the space even homier. These concepts will further achieve a harvest appearance that will last through Thanksgiving.
2. Hang a Fall Wreath
Wreaths add to the welcoming atmosphere of the fall season – nothing says “Welcome” like a wreath. Buy faux rather than creating with live produce or leaves. These can look convincingly realistic and be used year after year. Incorporate fragrant accents like cinnamon sticks, cloves, or dried herbs to add the pleasant scents of fall.
3. Go Traditional with Mums and Pumpkins
Mums and pumpkins are classic outdoor fall decorations. One trip to the pumpkin patch can easily update your front porch for fall. Grab some fall foliage, mums, pumpkins, gourds, and anything that catches your eye. You can add dimension to your porch décor by using layers – sort by height tallest items in the back and the minor items upfront.
4. Make it personal
Decorate pumpkins!! Have a pumpkin carving or painting night with your family, friends, or neighbors. Combine the unique, hand-crated pumpkins with your styled decor. You can also paint a pumpkin with your house number for a special touch.
